The IRSCL Research Grant
 


The Research Grant of US $1,000 encourages research by young/new scholars of children's literature; and applications are welcome from any postgraduate students or young colleagues in the field. It is not necessary to be a member of the IRSCL to apply for the grant.  Eligible activities include literary, historical, cultural, sociological, empirical or pedagogical research.

Applications should include a clear outline of aims, methodology, budget allocation, and expected outcomes. Notifications about applications will be made by 10 May 2007.

Applications
Applications for the 2007 Research Grant should be sent to the Board before March 1, 2007. A contact person will be announced in 2006.

Applications are welcome from any postgraduate students or young colleagues in the field. It is not necessary to be a member of the IRSCL to apply for the research grant.Applications should include a 1000-word description of the research project, and the following information:

  1. Name and title, Address, Telephone, fax, email
  2. Name of the institution where the project will be listed as an academic activity undertaken by its staff or students.
  3. Whether the research project is being undertaken as part of current postgraduate studies.
  4. Supervisor of the applicant's research project (where applicable).
  5. Names and addresses of two academic referees (the applicant's research supervisor may be one of these). Please include telephone and fax numbers, and email address.
  6. Previous academic record: qualifications at tertiary level, when and where obtained.
  7. Applicant's previous publications in children's literature (where applicable).
  8. Title of the research proposed for the IRSCL Grant.
  9. Aims of the research.
  10. Methodology
  11. A brief summary of research already carried out pn the topic with reference to key researchers. How the prioject will contribute to previous work.
  12. Budget showing how the applicant will use US $1,000 and brief justification of budget items.
  13. Expected outcomes of the project: planned publication(s), names of journals to which papers(s) arising from the research will be submitted.


Travel Grants
 

Applications are invited for up to three travel grants of not more than US $1,000 each to be awarded to members in need of financial assistance to attend the 2007 Congress. Applications should  be sent to the Board before March 1, 2007.
